For many colleges and universities, sustainability is becoming a unifying thread in the campus fabric. The trend is to migrate to “Green Concepts” as part of their commitment to being environmental stewards. As part of the Green Concepts, higher education institutions have incorporated waste management initiatives to minimize waste generation.
Today, the Green Movement affects more than companies; the 14 universities that encompass the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), have made great strides to manage their waste streams—implementing initiatives above and beyond regulatory requirements. These universities have been focusing on substituting greener products where possible, reducing quantities purchased/used, and recycling.
Sustainable Waste Solutions (SWS) offers landfill-free solutions to colleges and universities that support the Green Movement. As a proponent of renewable energy, we are committed to reducing waste volumes by maximizing recycling opportunities for our higher education clients through the utilization of Energy-from-Waste resource recovery facilities to process waste materials to generate renewable energy.
